Excited to bring Bridges to my nursing class.... 1 year 11 months ago #53

I am super excited that starting this upcoming semester I will be bringing the Bridges out of Poverty book to my Health Promotion class. I am starting next week on making PowerPoint presentations to go along with each chapter. Previous teachers that used similiar books never really discussed the books in class and I am going to change that as there is a very important message in there.

If anyone has any PowerPoints that they have already done I wont reinvent the wheel and would love a copy. If not I will post mine on here for others to hopefully use.

Hi Kendra -- How exciting that you are using Bridges in your class! Sounds like you're using Bridges Out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities, is that correct? I'd love to hear more information -- what are the demographics of your class, what is your objective in using the book, how are you using it, and anything else you'd like to share!

Barbara,
Thank you. I am very excited to include this. My upcoming class has 35 students that are all in their second year of obtaining the Bachelor Degree of Nursing. We are using the Bridges out of Poverty: Strategies for Professionals and Communities in this class. The class is Health Promotion across the life span.
This class addreses the influences of family, culture, community, and environment on health. We emphasize risk assessment, the concept of self care, and processes to identify and foster healthy lifestyle changes across the life span.
I am hoping this book will open each of their eyes on poverty and to be able to find ways to help with patients in successfully finding the way out.

Once I have more down I will be sure to share it along.
